Personal Prayers

lamp in sand

A Prayer is a simple connection between individual soul (Atman) of a person and the Infinite Supreme soul (Bhagavan) or God almighty who powers the entire Cosmic manifestation.

In its simplest form, prayer is a show of respect, gratitude and Love by the devotee to the Infinite (Bhagavan) upon whom the devotee relinquishes all control and simply surrenders because the devotee knows that without the Infinite he is nothing but inert matter..

In this simple form, the Prayer can be just a few words spoken with sincerity. They can even be sincere thoughts as long as the person can hear them inside him. But according to seers, prayers said aloud are more effective as the sound vibrations benefits anyone who hears them -- devotee, other living beings, even inert matter. Think of a fireplace -- the energy of the fire heats anyone that is in its range. Similarly the energy of the prayer affects anyone who hears it.

In more sophisticated forms prayer may involve elaborate rituals, rules to follow and external material manifestations.

But the essential core of any Prayer -- whether simple or elaborate -- is that the devotee accepts that he himself is insignificant and subordinate to the Infinite Lord -- and thus surrenders to the Lord seeking His refuge, kindness and blessings.

The devotee surrenders not out fear but out of Love, out of awe and respect, because he realizes that his own capacities are limited whereas the Infinite cosmic manifestations of the Lord are unlimited and Infinite.

And not only that, because the devotee knows that the Infinite will always protect him like a Loving parent protects his or her child.

Thus the Infinite is worthy of Love and respect...

With this in mind, here I present two simple personal prayers
