Ram Mandir in Ayodhya

Nov 2918

At the core of the Ram Temple or Ram Mandir (as it is known in India) issue is the belief that Lord Sri Ram was born in the same spot in the place called Ayodhya where previously existed a Vaishnava Ram temple that was demolished by Muslim invader Babar - ancestor of the Mughals in the Indian subcontinent - and a mosque called namesake 'Babri masjid' erected in its place some 500 years ago.

This mosque though in ruins and out of usage, was still around when in mid 1940s someone installed in it idols of Sri Ram, thus marking the beginning of the period where both Hindu and Muslim communities laid claim to the site.

But given the India's Independence movement in 1940s and subsequent so called 'secular' Congress governments in the 3-4 decades that followed, the issue did not receive much attention in press or public.

Yet the demand never died out. The Hindus always had a valid claim to the place - after all it is the place where their very venerated Sri Ram was born. Think of this as the Mecca of Muslims or Bethlehem of Christians.

The demand for re-building of the Ram temple and justifiably so began again vigorously in mid 1980s although successive governments (mainly Congress party led) chose to delay/ignore the demand for Ram temple construction.

In December 1992, the mosque eventually was demolished by a group of Hindu 'Kar sevaks' or 'service men'. That led to further tightening of security and political posturing whereby multiple lawsuits and counter lawsuits have been filed all the way up to SCOI (Supreme Court of India).

It is interesting to note that in 1994, Prayagraj (previously known as Allahabad) High Court advised the excavations and archeological survey of the site to determine if there indeed existed prior a Hindu temple. As such ASI conducted at least two Scientific surveys and both of them eventually found irrefutable evidence that confirmed the existence of a massive Hindu temple under the site.

Yet after these scientifically proven findings, successive governments even including the nationalist BJP government between 1998-2004 by and large ignored the ASI findings and no action was either allowed or taken under political pressures from various sides.

As late as Oct 29, 2018, the SCOI has further delayed the judgment on the matter until next year..

That said IMO, the Oct 29 directive by SCOI (supreme court of India) about delaying hearing Ram Mandir case to 2019 is just another one of those procedural delays to deny Hindus their fundamental right to Faith in their own land.

Its a bad decision.

Not sure if you all saw this..but please forward along..this is the wonderful talk by Director of ASI, KK Muhammad, a learned, scientific, scholar and himself a Muslim who validates the existence of a older much bigger Ram temple under the demolished masjid

Is there any doubt now on why a Ram temple is a justified demand? Pl fwd along..

To the Hindu nation: Our karma dictates that Hindus must assert themselves. Enough of this self slapping apologetic mindset.

We must pressure this BJP govt for ordinance as Dr Subramanian Swamy says..

Quoting Sri Krishna (from Bhagavad Gita Chapter 2 Verse 3)

क्लैब्यं मा स्म गम: पार्थ नैतत्तवय्युपपद्यते

klaibyam ma sama gama Partha na iti tvayi upa padyate'

Dont succumb to this chicken heartedness Partha..doesn't befit you.

True for all self respecting Hindus..

Tradition says the people of Ayodhya were jubilant at the news and return of their righteous King Sri Ram and Queen Sita..after the 14 year long exile (that includes the Lanka war/killing of ravana)..people of that time could readily give up a kingdom and happiness just to keep a promise (those who studied Ramayan know all this)..

Thats why he is so venerated in Hinduism.

Compare that to this day and age where the opposite happens..perhaps a moment to reflect and see how we ourselves can learn from history and traditions and live a better life today..

You see we Hindus never really cared for such questions like dates and times of when someone lived, if they lived , who wrote which book, These are non-Indian (mostly western questions)..we 'did' care for the message of Truth..behind traditions and  tales like Ramayan/Mahabharat..

And here is a question of Truth of History - A Hindu temple was razed by invaders forcefully and oppressively and its time to correct the History by rebuilding a Grand Ram Temple there.
